RAGAA - Raise Against
Gender Apartheid in Afghanistan

This is an initiative launched from Spain by FIBGAR and People Help.

Its aim is to raise awareness of and denounce the gender apartheid imposed on women in Afghanistan, to promote its recognition as a crime against humanity, and to mobilise international support in defence of fundamental rights.

From Spain, we raise awareness of and defend the rights of women in Afghanistan

The situation of women and girls in Afghanistan requires a global and determined response. The systematic violations of their rights cannot be allowed to go unpunished.

We join the efforts of the international community in demanding justice, protection and reparation. Only through cooperation and joint action can we halt the oppression and ensure fundamental rights.

Now is the time to act: justice cannot wait.

Since the Taliban’s takeover in 2021, Afghan women and girls have been subjected to a systematic policy of exclusion and subordination. They have been banned from accessing secondary and higher education, have faced severe restrictions on their participation in work and public life, and have had their freedom of movement and most basic rights severely curtailed.

These measures are not isolated incidents but part of a structured regime aimed at keeping women in a situation of institutionalised oppression. Various international bodies have pointed out that these practices amount to gender apartheid — a form of discrimination and violence carried out in a widespread and systematic manner, which must be recognised as a crime against humanity under international law.
